Rhabdomyolysis Prevention Handout
Is exercise-induced rhabdomyolysis a challenge for your fire or police academy?
This handout will provide your recruits and instructors the education they need to help prevent this condition.
- What rhabdo is
- Symptoms to watch for
- Treatment
- Risk factors
- Recommendations for prevention
This handout was used to eliminate rhabdomyolysis from 10+ police and fire academies. A dietitian or trainer reviewed the handout with the instructors and re-worked the physical training program to reduce risk. The recruits were educated on the symptoms and encouraged to notify an instructor if something felt off.
